An online date night with a shared mystery
A shared puzzle gives an online date something to orbit around. You can notice different details, compare theories, and enjoy a wrong guess without needing to keep a conversation going from a blank screen.
HuntGig play guide · UpdatedKeep the setup smaller than the occasion
One person hosts a private HuntGig room; the other joins with a nickname and invitation code. Two players meet the private-room minimum. If you are apart, use your usual voice or video call alongside the browser game. HuntGig does not provide the call itself.
Choose a case length that leaves room to talk afterwards. The estimates describe an intended pace, not a deadline. A shorter mystery can be a first activity in a longer date rather than the whole evening.
Use personal touches gently
You can put a short introduction or final message into the host setup before starting. An inside joke, a thank-you, or a memory can make the final reveal feel personal. Check it before the room begins, when these fields lock.
Keep surprises within what the other person would enjoy. A date game does not need a public announcement or a high-pressure question at the end. The mystery works perfectly well with its standard story if you prefer to keep the evening simple.
Share the detective work
Alternate who reads the current clue aloud and who proposes a theory. Before submitting, each person should be able to say which detail supports the answer. That makes the solution a joint discovery rather than one person watching the other type.
- Ask: ‘What did you notice first?’ before comparing answers.
- When stuck, each name a detail that seems irrelevant and reconsider it.
- Agree to request a hint after a comfortable pause rather than silently searching for solutions.
- After the reveal, choose your favourite piece of evidence and explain why.
Let the ending stay private
The result card is optional. Download it for yourselves, or agree together before sharing a team name publicly. Hosting another case is a separate invitation: the next-host button can carry over a local group name, but it does not automatically invite the other person.
Before you invite everyone
Can we play from different cities?
Yes. Each player uses their own browser and internet connection. Use a separate call if you want voice or video.
Is the result automatically posted?
No. Sharing and downloading are explicit choices at the end of play.
